I’d really never though about doing Bette Midler as a character.  She kind of evolved into my act though friends that I worked with at An Evening At LaCage in Orlando, FL.  They all said you could do Bette Midler.  She’s a very big character to take on. I mean anyone can look like Bette with the right make up, wigs & costumes but with her there is so much more.  So I took the challenge and now she has become a staple in my act.

This performance was a homecoming surprise for my hometown fans. They had always seen me do such characters as Dolly Parton & Stevie Nicks. I had just started doing Bette a few years earlier and this was the first time doing it in my hometown. This was filmed Derby Weekend 1998 at the Connection Theatre in Louisville, KY.

This is a promo video of mine which has many looks of the one and only Bette Midler. The segments were taken from my show ILLUSION IN REVUE that was featured at the Hennagar Center in Melbourne, FL. The show was a sold out for an entire weekend two years in a row.

Some of the looks were recreations of some of the costumes that she has worn over the years like the dress of Mamma Rose from the Musical Film “Gypsy” & the Daisy Appron from her Emmy Award winning appeareance from the last episode of the Johnny Carson Show.
